Line of Destiny
In the video Line of Destiny, Oscar Muñoz synthesizes in a very simple action, elements and preoccupations on the relation between fixation and memory, image and subjectivity. Based on the original Narcissus myth, the video images a man who stares at himself in the reflection of the water that he holds in his hands. During the course of this action, the reflection/portrait is in a state of constant making and unmaking, never, so to speak, thoroughly fixed by the camera. The video reveal a liquid and fluid portrait/identity, which in the end decomposes and disappears because of the impossibility to keep the water in one’s hands.
