Virus
The work focuses on HIV/Aids both in solidarity with official campaigns to intensify awareness of the disease and as a personal response to the tragedy. If I previously had watched the annihilation caused by HIVfrom the sidelines, I recently had a close personal encounter with the effects of the virus. My sister lived with HIV for more than nine years and passed away recently (in April 2005). Her death made me realize the extent of the despair that the virus is causing to millions of people both infected and affected by it. As such, my work recalls my personal journey with my sister but also reflects on millions of other people's experiences as well. It is my hope that also artistic gestures may induce greater awareness of the epidemic and support greater tolerance.

The video Virus is a suggestive and hypnotic visualization of the HIV virus, a generative and transformative visual treatment, where the streaming of other associated corporeal imagery are merged with those visions of the virus itself.
